Hilo and back again....

We headed into Hilo to rent our forming stakes from Whitecap construction. They have the best deals on concrete and related products. We wanted to place our order so we could get our stuff on the friday truck. Quite a bit of steel and concrete will go into this tank indeed. Here is a sampling of heat we ordered today:

- 61 pieces of 20 foot #3 rebar
- 17 pieces of 20 foot #5 rebar
- 14 pieces of 8x20 foot size wire mesh (gauge 6)

That's a lot of steel. Another thing we decided to buy is the hitachi rebar bender/cutter. This was a tough decision. If whitecap does our cutting and bending then it came to the same cost as the hitachi tool. What to do? We decided that if we bought the tool I can still sell it and come out better then paying them to do it for me. Plus I will have a lot more flexibility with being able to easily cut rebar in the future when I will need for the top of the tank and sides also. I'll have more info and videos about how the tool works soon. Hopefully the guy on amazon who said his wife is bending rebar for him wasn't lying but it looks like a piece of cake and works for everything up to #5 rebar (5/8 inch).
