Flashing work..

So the flashing guys started their work today. They managed to finish one side and the front almost. The half circles they will come back to finish off when they come back. So far we are happy with their work and they are doing a great job. We covered the big beam with some 1/2 plywood because they will be flashing the little roof's above the windows and sliding door area. This took us almost the whole day because of the weird cuts required. This was meant to deal with the screws protruding from our steel posts connections to the wood columns.

The steel screws we are using for the roof weren't available on the island. They have all sizes from 1 inch to 2 1/2 inch's. However because laid the steel roof over the insulation, this added another inch and the 2 1/2 inch screws wouldn't work anymore. Because the laps of the roof are 1 inch high, plus 1 inch of insulation would leave us with only 1/2 into the plywood. This is not acceptable for proper holding power. So I had to bring in the screws specially from California. I ordered the special flattened head style which is a better finish I think compared to what is available here on the island as well. They use special torx bits to drive these screws as well.

Pink radio, I doubt someone's going to steal this anytime soon.

Some vise grips for an antenna.

Flashing work about to begin.

First piece up.

Roofing screws being installed also. They are stainless with special steel tip to penetrate the roof.

Aligned quite well, not really important since no one will see these.

Flashing work at days end.

Closeup of flashing work. Looking good!
