Materials..
I've been thinking some about the materials. Even though this is only a 880 sq foot home quite a bit of material is going into this. Just for the wire ties we have used almost 1500 pieces already. We spoke to the concrete company today and I ran the numbers for the volumes required. It looks like it will be about 69.89 cubic yards / 53.43 cubic meters of concrete. This equates to 104 metric tons of concrete weight, and that doesn't include the steel, water weight or weight of the house. If I add the water to it then this number jumps to 179 metric tons pressing down on the soil (water volume is 75 cubic meters). Impressive numbers indeed.
