Splicing rebar...

Here you can see a picture of the rebar our inspector wanted us to splice more. We had a 12 inch overlap but she wanted 25 inch on this material. This is overly conservative, especially considering this is not an elevated slab area. Anyway, we have complied and spliced in an additional piece of 25 inch rebar.

The second, seemingly almost ridicules idea she had was the seed pods. See the little seed pod which has fallen off the tree in the lower picture? There are a couple hundred of these already on the bottom of the base course gravel. We have this in writing, believe it or not. But she wants us to remove this before the concrete pour. Honestly.. Who believes that this is somehow going to affect 104,000 kg of concrete?
