These are the completed pictures of the wire mesh. We worked long and hard all day to finally wrap it up. It was great to look back at our almost completed work. We still need to lay at least 400 feet of #3 (1/2 inch) rebar tomorrow as well as install our J dowels. The wire mesh is in double layers with 1 1/2 from the bottom and 6 inch from the bottom. Its quite a challenge at times and planning is required ahead to decide when to place inside wall rebar, etc. By the end we had figured out what works better and what doesn't. In the larger picture below you can see our plywood pieces. We use these to navigate around placing the little rebar chairs. Since you can't walk directly on the wire mesh this is the only way to navigate on top. We usually lay the two layers down, trim the edges to how we want it with the Bosch grinder and then add the 6 inch chairs first. Later we will go back and add the 1 1/2 chairs since this is a quicker way of working. We also need to set and wire 350 pieces of J dowels to our outside walls and some inside also. We are looking at perhaps welding these since it would be much faster. They must be exactly 6 inches from the edge of the formwork, otherwise they would be to far inside the future vertical wall and cause issues with that formwork. We tested some wiring today, and even with three ties it didn't keep straight and true as it should. Welding them to the #3 rebar on the edge would be quicker and provide a perfect fit.
