Most dilapidated concrete mixer, EVER!

So after our exciting trip to quarry we were ready to pour our mini wall and stairs. The guy from Sheldon Weld'en was kind enough to let us borrow his mixer. It turns out that the mixer isn't actually his but his neighbours. Well, from the pictures and video you can see its seen better days. After the last load was loaded and mixed, the wiggling wheel just fell off finally; effectively signalling that it had enough for the day.

We used a mix of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand and 4 parts crushed rock (1:2:4). This is a normal mix which yields about 3500psi strength (24 megapascal's). This is suitable for most everyday jobs. We went through 2 1/4 bags of concrete and half of our sand. We rented a concrete vibrator again which makes it much easier to work with concrete overall. Especially when you are making walls.

The end result seemed to be good when we left it this evening.  It will serve us plenty well for our application I would think for many years to come.

The sand loaded in our truck, exactly 0.74 tons according to the quarry.

Sand in Hawaii isn't like what you have in the mainland or elsewhere. Its more like crushed rock rather then sand. Using away their beaches for concrete wouldn't be smart.

Can't even trust the wheel axel anymore. Needs to be blocked up on wood before use.

Most of this mixer has rusted away, leaving nothing but air to hold it together.

Its literally see-through by now.

The large wheel did eventually fall off on the last load.
