So here we have the final tank access door pictures. Its always difficult to take pictures during the whole process. I don't want concrete on the camera, the concrete sets up very quickly here due to the warm temperatures. Normally in the professional ready mix that they bring with truck they add a retarder so you have more working time with the whole thing.
The most frustrating thing about this whole part of the project was the cement mixer. It was a mixed blessing. It fell apart several times again. Also, by the end one of the gears on the rear wheel must have been broken because it would stop turning. Anyway, the lesson learned here (which I knew already) is that having bad tools / equipment makes your life much more difficult.
All in all I think it went well. It will serve its purpose very well for our needs. After this, we will finally be able to deal with the tank. Until now we were getting debris and new rain into the tank from the roof. The next step will be to power wash the entire thing and vacuum what remains of the water which doesn't run out. Then a special waterproofing compound will be need to be applied to the entire tank which makes it drinkable / potable water also. This is brushed on in two coats. The product is called HEY'DI K-11 and is rather expensive also. Anyhow, worthwhile investment which will make the whole thing super waterproof and very drinkable.
