Skylights started and done!

A rather exiting task was completed yesterday. This was the skylights. We have been very gently navigating around them in the container. We certainly didn't want anything to fall against the glass and break them. The task wasn't very challenging once you got started. We needed to build four boxes that were 25x73 inch's in size. These then you screw to your supports. I will take some pictures from the roof top so you can get a better idea of how it looks.

We are having someone come out who's going to look at our flashing, since this is going to be challenge to do and very much out of league. You need the special bending tools, etc.

Using a steel tie to hold the beam in place. We used simpson 2 1/2" screws to keep all this together.

Since the support fell right on top of the window, we needed to improve our structure here. We used 4 2x6 beams, then made a window header out of some 2x6 and several 2x4's.

Main beam in place, we put up some temp wood and tested our skylight boxes.

The cross beams were screwed using special 4 1/2 inch screws.

All beams in place, just needs to be screwed finaly.

Done! All four skylights in place. Tough to tell, from below.
